The Coronavirus...are you doing your part?

By now every state in the U.S. has the Coronavirus.  Many states and cities are shutting down and requiring people to work at home and only go out for essentials.  It is becoming easier and easier to do so because I am not sure where people would go.  The only stores that are open are ones that provide the needed services; groceries, home improvements, etc.  The malls, movie theaters, live performance theaters, theme parks, banks, restaurants, attractions, state parks, beaches, etc.  I mean there is really nothing to do.  It is funny, many of us were wishing we could get a chance to breath.  Now that w have it people want to go out.  I am still working but I am also getting a ton of stuff done at home.  I started a huge project over the week end and will share what it is tomorrow.   Wash your hands, don't touch your face, stay 6 ft. away from people, sanitize everything, stay home, stay safe and stay healthy!  Have a great day!

Playing Outside

With all of the social distancing that is going on we are doing our part with the exception of grocery store runs.  Today we are playing in the backyard with the hose.  It is a sunny day with temps at 88 degrees and no humidity.  The perfect weather in Florida.  Of course when the humidity is not high it is always a good day.  Rory’s laughter can make anyone feel good and her sheer delight in playing in water makes for a great afternoon. I know I said I feel like I am in a sci-fi movie and as each day passes it is getting more and more unreal.  We are lucky as we are still healthy and hopefully will stay that way.  My brother has been exposed and is self isolation; he has another week to go.  My other brother has started total isolation because he has cancer so he is staying away from people.  My sister  is not feeling well but the symptoms are not that of the virus.  We are all apart with two of us in California and two of us in Florida but not close, distance wise.  I am still working and will continue to until a cease working order comes from the Government.  Not my choice but I will do what I am told unless I am not feeling well then I will self isolate.  Hope all is well with you all.  Stay safe and healthy.  God Bless!

The Coronavirus, Seems Like I Am In A Sci-fi Movie

The Coronavirus aka Covid 19 is something that was a subject in several sci-fi movies except it is real and happening.  People working from home, schools closed, malls closed, restaurants are drive thru or take out only, churches closed, Walmart is not open 24 hours, Disney world is closed, casinos are closed and cruise ships have stopped running for 30 days. After 9:00 pm there is no reason to be out because everything is closed.  It really does not seem real but it is.  We have watched China, where this virus began,  suffer.  Then Europe, especially Italy, and now it has reached the United States and three areas have already been slammed and are closed.  Washington state, San Francisco, CA & New York City.  Here in Florida it has hit in the last six days and in my county we have four cases but one just passed away today.  I am still at work and will be there until we are forced to close or I have to self isolate.  Social distancing is the trend and so is hoarding toilet paper; not sure what that is all about but could you leave a few rolls for others. Time will tell!  We are all in this together so let’s be kind and considerate to each other, listen to our President  and Vice President and pray to our Lord.  Be safe out there; better yet...just stay home!

Dancing With The Stars Live

Last week I got to use my birthday present from Jenny, Nate and Rory.  They gave me two ticket to Dancing With The Stars Live.  It was great.  I brought my dear friend Jean with me, she loves the show too.  We had dinner then went to see the show.  The dancing was fantastic, fast paced and almost non stop.  The music was a bit loud but other than that is was a great evening.  Check out the pictures.  Thank you Jean for coming with me and thank you a Jenny, Nate and Rory for a fabulous birthday present!

Maybe I Need A New Title

I never realized that once I started working how much time it takes up.  When I was writing my other blogs, I was retired and was able to keep up with them daily but now I can’t seem to even write this one once a month.  I am going to try and do better and at least post once a week. With that said here we go!  This past week end, President’s Week end, I did some hiking with some friends at Payne’s Prairie Preserve.  It is a prairie in Gainesville, Florida.  Now most people would not believe that there is such a thing but it is an actual prairie with Bison, wild horses and alligators too.  We covered a lot of the prairie hiking over 8 miles through out sections of the prairie.  We did see alligators, even up close.  We saw the bison and horses but from a far.  It was the perfect weather day to be hiking; no humidity, low 70’s and sunny.  We even visit Micanopy, a small town near Payne’s Prairie.  If you ever saw the movie “Doc Hollywood” it was filmed in this town. Check out some of the pictures on of the prairie! I had a great day, thanks Robin, Debbie and Tony for letting me tag along.

Two Hurricanes & A New Challenge

Hurricane Dorian came thru on September 4 with little to no damage.  We just got some wind and rain and we are ecstatic about it.  Everything was shut down so people were safe.  Then Hurricane Humberto came thru yesterday, we got a brief rain storm, once again ecstatic!  Today I start my third StepBet.  My daughter Jenny runs these through the StepBet app and I have been successful in my first two.  My step goals have gone up but I can do it.  Tonight I start back to the Bell Choir at church;  my other three choirs have already begun.  So I have to get my steps done this afternoon, it is going to be hot again, so I can go to Bell Choir then get home to watch “ Dancing With The Stars”.  It is going to be a busy day, week, month and year!

Dorian Is On It’s Way!

So, last Thursday I made a post about Hurricane prep.  Four days later we are still waiting to see where Dorian is going.  Schools, work places and stores are closing for it even though we are still not sure when it will arrive.  We are okay with this but the wait is painful.  We did lose power this afternoon, a transformer blew, but it was fixed within an hour.  It was still painful and was getting warm.  Say a prayer for the Bahamas for the destruction they have incurred and say a pray for Florida as we wait and see what happens.  We are ready but will be very happy when it is over.  I will keep you posted!

One extra thing, all three of my football teams won on Saturday.  1-0 record!
